Browsing through the net, I came across the site http://www.visitbritain.co.uk and I was thrilled to find out that it provides a vast array of information regarding Britain.

It does not only give you an outline of city destinations, city maps or accommodation and sightseeing itineraries but it also allows you to plan the perfect day in Britain based on your interests or for people of your kind. So, if you are a budget traveler or a couple visiting Britain, you can both find a place to suit your taste.

But, if I may, there is more than meets the eye….Teaching English for more than a decade it never crossed my mind that this site could also be a useful tool for EFL teachers and learners alike.

I have used it many times in class without a particular agenda. In the beginning, I usually let my student decide which part of Britain they would like to visit, I visit the site and we just take it from there! We spent some time browsing, reading, writing on the board and chatting, and later on I might ask them to write an essay on “My holidays in….”

It is really fun and students enjoy it! If you have internet access, you must try it.
