Research indicates that today’s pupils behave much better than their counterparts in the seventies due to better teaching methods and constant praise. In 2006, 141 classrooms across England and Wales were visited by more than 70 educational psychologists, who found that at anyone time, more than 10 per cent more pupils are now “on task” compared to those in the late 1970s.
